She is in Our Arms!

First Glimpse

Finally!!!

Leaving Civil Affairs.

Safe in Mama's Arms

We are a family! Joy was placed in our arms just over two hours ago at the civil affairs office. We unexpectedly caught our first glimpse her as we turned the corner after getting out of the elevator. She was and is beautiful and tiny. She was being held by her Nanny and made eye contact with both of us. We were elated. It was hard to wait the thirty minutes after seeing her. She was put into Mommy's arms by the director and stayed there comfortably. After a few minutes we spoke to the director and asked a few questions. She did not cry one bit......until Dad tried to hold her. Let's just say that for right now, she has taken to Mom quite a bit better. She does have a bit of a fever and a deep, croupy sounding cough. She loves books and seems to be extremely smart and willful. She walks like a 13 month old and we would be very surprised if she weighs more than 20 pounds. Please pray for her health and our attachment process. We will update more later. We thank the Lord for her and for the other families with us and their beautiful children.

Dearest Roberta & Mark,
My heart about jumped out of my chest when I saw the picture of Roberta & Joy (asleep in your arms) in the lobby. I have never seen such a perfect picture of peace, joy and contentment. What a perfect moment. Prayers are always with you for your health, happiness and peace. I know the kids are so very anxious to meet their new sister. She is so precious and beautiful. Can't wait to see her myself when you return to Jacksonville. Hope she will be acclimated enough for me to have her in my arms. Really a gift from God. I sure hope that someday she will realize what a true gift from God that you and Mark are to her in opening your hearts to take her in as your own and give her such a wonderful, full, loving life.
God Bless you all in this wonderful adventure and I pray that God will hold you in his loving hands and guide you safely home.

She's adorable! But then we already knew that, didn't we! You're wearing shorts and short sleeve shirts...LUCKY! I WISH we had even ONE photo without smog or us bundled from head to toe. You have some amazing photos so far. Can't wait to see more, as you begin the best part of the whole trip...taking her everywhere with you!
love, Angie (in Utah)
